Due to security concerns, especially given the growing use of mobile devices, companies are increasingly opting for the use of new and more secure authentication solutions.
According to a survey conducted by the Dutch security provider Gemalto, 86% of the IT organisations surveyed currently plan to introduce two-factor authentication for cloud applications. While this method is already being used by 38%, this figure is forecast to rise to 51% in two years. Two-factor authentication is already more widespread for verifying the identity of external users. In this area, it is used by 52% of companies.
Companies are particularly interested in authentication solutions that can be centrally managed, for example, as a cloud-based Authentication as a Service. 90% of respondents even cite a cloud connection as the decisive criterion for acquiring such an application. (Source: Gemalto/rf)
