The global “The State of Big Data Infrastructure” study from software provider CA has ranked the biggest challenges of implementing Big Data projects: In first place comes an inadequate infrastructure (32%), followed by the complexity of the organisation (27%), security concerns (26%) and a lack of budget (25%) and data and process transparency (25%).
Almost all of those surveyed (98%) recognised that heavy investment is needed to ensure that Big Data projects run smoothly. More than half (56%) stated that their main priority is to scale existing projects. This means that the majority of Big Data projects are still limited to a single department or specific area.
CA’s study, conducted by Vanson Bourne, surveyed 1,000 IT managers from a variety of sectors in eleven countries. (Source: CA/bs)
