Around 70% of employees use personal devices at work, but only 35% of companies have binding guidelines governing this. This means that almost a third of employees have unrestricted access to the company’s LAN, according to the findings of a survey of 220 German IT managers conducted by Kroll Ontrack .
Wearables and eReaders are also an unpredictable risk for IT departments, as they are an open gate for cyber attacks and malware. A further source of danger are automated mobile device backups, which fully automatically load all data to the cloud and can result in confidential company data leaving the company’s network, without employees and managers being aware of this.
