Generation M: Mobile mix of work and personal life

A “Generation Mobile”, fixated on mobile devices, carries out more than a quarter (26%) of their work on tablets or smartphones. This group is accustomed to using their mobile devices for both personal purposes during working hours and work-related activities during their free time. These were the findings of MobileIron’s Gen M study, conducted by Harris Poll, which surveyed 3,500 managers from Europe and the US.

60% of those surveyed said that they would even change jobs if their employer was not willing to accept this mix of work and personal life. To win over and retain such employees, companies need to be aware of and accept their working style. In cases where the company pays for the devices, it needs to protect its data, without spying on employees’ personal data. (Source: MobileIron/bs)
