Network security: DDoS attacks are happening more violently and more frequently

DDoS attacks on companies are happening more often and are lasting longer and longer. In the global DDoS Trends Report Q2/2015 from March 01 to May 07, 2015, Imperva recorded over 3,000 attenuated DDoS attacks and 60 million repelled bot sessions.

The longest attack on one of the websites protected by Imperva went on for 64 days and completely shut down several websites. Furthermore: Anyone who has been target of an attack runs a higher risk of becoming a victim of DDoS attacks again. Thus a repeat attack was registered on average every ten days. During the survey 72% of all network-based attacks lasted less than three hours. More than 20% of the attacks lasted even more than five days. (Source: Imperva/bs)
