Open source: Oracle Linux now available as Docker image

Oracle now also officially provides its Linux distribution in the Docker registry hub. In a press release, Oracle explicitly praises the open Docker platform for the opportunities it offers for rapid software development and distribution. By making applications portable beyond clouds and local installations, the platform promotes business growth.

For this reason, Oracle also wants to provide an official image of MySQL by the end of February. Unofficial Docker versions of the database have been available for several months now and have been downloaded millions of times. Customers can get support for working with Oracle Linux in the Docker container via the My Oracle Support portal. Both the basic and premium support contracts also cover cloud instances.
