Big data has been one of the biggest trends in the IT world for several years now. Yet, many companies still don’t know how they can benefit from analysing large volumes of data. Perhaps a new BITKOM guideline can therefore provide the answer. The guideline presents 42 case studies of the use of big data in business and administration.
At the start of each case study is a profile of the company, followed by an outline of the challenge with which it was faced. This is followed by brief descriptions of the solution, the use of big data analyses and the new approaches developed as a result. The conclusion consists of a summary of the benefits for the company and an outlook for the future. The case studies are supplemented with definitions, explanations and economic classifications relating to big data. Management summaries provide a recap of the introductory chapters and individual case studies in just a few lines. (resource: BITKOM/rf)
