The industry association BITKOM believes we will see a continued rise in the cloud computing market. Despite the revelations about the NSA and GCHQ, the Experton Group, commissioned by BITKOM, predicts a 46% increase in business volume in the current year, to around 6.4 billion euros. Around 3 billion euros is attributed to services such as the provision of applications (Software as a Service, SaaS), storage and computing capacities (Infrastructure as a Service, IaaS) and development environments (Platform as a Service, PaaS). And in the future, all signs point towards more growth: By 2018, the cloud market in the enterprise sector is expected to increase to around 19.8 billion, with annual growth rates averaging 35%.
