M86 Security announced that the newly branded M86 Security Secure Web Gateway, obtained from its acquisition of Finjan, will be available in the first quarter of 2010. The Secure Web Gateway appliance ought to provide vital protection for medium to large organizations from Web-based threats, which are expected to grow in 2010. According to M86 Security, with this product the enterprise becomes the largest Web security appliance vendor in the world.
M86’s Web security products protect organizations from online threats including Trojans, spyware, scareware, botnets, blended threats and other malware. The Finjan technology provides enhanced protection with active real-time content inspection and code analysis technology. In addition, its anti-crimeware and anti-malware technology protects against malware specialized to penetrate Web 2.0 technologies. The new Secure Web Gateway product will continue to maintain Finjan’s hardware and software base to ensure a smooth transition for new and existing customers.
The addition of the Finjan Secure Web Gateway product line rounds out M86’s security offerings for Web security by adding to the company’s appliance and software offerings. M86’s acquisition of Finjan establishes the company as the largest Web security appliance vendor based on revenue. According to an August 2009 IDC forecast about worldwide Web Security vendor shares from 20081, M86 Security’s and Finjan’s combined Web security appliance revenue amounts to $47 million, exceeding McAfee, Blue Coat, Imperva and Barracuda during the same timeframe.
