According to the European Statistical Office (Eurostat), in the Eurozone (EZ15) the pace of inflation is slowing down. Thus, in October 2008 prices in the EZ15 rose by 3.2% as compared to October 2007, according to preliminary data. Final results will be known by the middle of November. In September the annual inflation rate had been 3.6%.
Eurostat calculate the preliminary consumer price index for the Eurozone (VPI-EWU) on the basis of price data early available from some member states as well as on information on energy prices.
