The order volume by industry in the Eurozone (EZ15) has increased by 1.0% in July 2008 as compared to June which is a significant improvement with regard to the situation in June (-0.5%). In the EU27 the order intake even increased by 2.3% in July 2008 after stagnation in June. Without taking into account the shipbuilding industry, track vehicle building and air and the space craft industry the volume of incoming orders increased by 1.4% in the Eurozone and by 3.6% in the EU27.
As compared to July 2007 the order volume grew by 1.6% in the Eurozone and by 2.8% in the EU27. Without taking into account the aforementioned industries the increases were 2.1% and 2.2% respectively.
Monthly changes
In 13 of the EU member states which made data available the order volume increased in July while it decreased in six of them. The biggest increases were registered in Estonia (+9.9%), Italy (+5.9%) and France (+4.3%). The most significant decrease were to be found in Lithuania (-2.6%), Sweden (-2.2%) and Poland (-2.1%).
Annual changes
In eleven of the EU member states which made data available the order volume increased in July while it decreased in eight of them. The biggest increases were registered in Romania (+29.2%), Latvia (+26.2%) and Estonia (+23.0%). The most significant decreases were to be found in Denmark (-11.2%), Poland (-4.3%) and Sweden (-2.9%).
