The European market for games consoles and video games is currently doing very well. The number of pieces of hard and software sold this year increased both in the European guide market of Great Britain and other core markets such as Germany, France and Spain at two-digit growth rates.
This is the finding of a joint study by the German “media control GfK International” and the British “GfK Chart-Track Limited” which collected respective data right at the points of sale.
According to Mrs Ulrike Altig, managing director with “media control GfK International”, these surprisingly high growth rates are due to a permanently rising demand for so-called stationary platforms of the next generation and portable handheld consoles as well as increased demand for video games.
