As was reported by the Federal Statistical Office, the turnover in the German goods producing industry increased by 5.0% in provisional real figures in August 2007 as compared to the same month in 2006 (Juli: +5.4%). Domestic turnover grew by 4.4%. Sales in the business with foreign purchasers increased by 5.8%.
Compared to August 2006 turnover in the business with countries from the Eurozone was up by 5.8%, whereas turnover in the business with all the other foreign countries increased by 5.7%.
Within the category of most important economic sectors the fabrication of metal products grew most by 9.1% (domestic market: +8.6%, abroad: +10.3%), followed by mechanical engineering with a plus of 8.1% (at home: +9.6%, abroad: +7.0%). The least positive development took place in the business of broadcasting and telecommunications engineering where turnover fell by 0.3% (at home: +8.6%, abroad: -5.8%).
As compared to July 2007 turnover in the business with German purchasers grew by 1.6% while that with foreign buyers fell by 0.2 %. The business with countries from the Eurozone grew by 0.6%, whereas that with all the other countries decreased by 0.9%.
In cumulated figures for the period from January to August 2007 turnover in the German good producing industry was 6.7% up as compared to the same period last year with domestic turnover growing by 5.0% and turnover with countries from abroad by 9.0%.
