Not only does Russia´s IT industry grow at a breathtaking pace, but it also wants to work closer together with the German IT sector. So far this co-operation has been successful. Last year Germany exported IT and telecommunications devices as well as consumer electronics to the value of 2.3 billion Euros to Russia.
This figure corresponds to a 6% increase, assumes the German Association for Information Management, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM). According to data provided by the Russian government the information and telecommunications market in Russia has grown by about 19% each year since 2000. At the same time Russian software companies and IT service providers are increasingly active on the German market. “We want to extend this win-win-situation in the future”, said BITKOM director Ulrich Dietz at the CeBIT. There the Federal Minister for economic affairs, Mr. Michael Glos, and the Russian deputy prime minister, Sergey Naryshkin, today opened the German-Russian IT summit.
The Russians are located in a booth in hall 12. In total there are 173 Russian companies exhibiting in Hannover. Among them are well-known companies like the computer virus softwar specialist Kaspersky and Luxoft, which is a software developer. On the occasion of this German-Russian IT summit Luxoft signed a contract with Deutsche Bank. The German Software AG and the Russian republic of Tatarstan also committed themselves to co-operation. Over the next days to come representatives from both countries will discuss their co-operation in four German-Russian forums a the CeBIT show. 
Update (10/17/2022): In March 2022, as a response to Russia’s aggression against Ukraine, Luxoft has decided to exit the Russian market. Currently, Luxoft has ceased to provide operations to Russian clients and has no offices in the location.
