Today the Roland Berger Strategy Consultants will award the “Best of European Business Award” to most successful German companies. For the second time this competition which was launched in 2005 takes place in Germany. Winners in the “growth category” are the mechanical engineering company Benteler AG and the sports article manufacturer Puma AG. In the “Europe category” the winners are the Franz Haniel & Cie. GmbH conglomerate and the Vaillant Group which is a heating and air conditioning technology specialist. In the category of cross-border Mergers & Acquisitions the energy combine E.ON AG left the best impression.
Today’s award ceremony in Berlin marks the end of the seventh of ten country competition rounds. So far the national winners were selected in Italy, Portugal, the Netherlands, Spain, Switzerland and Poland. Further winners will still be chosen in Denmark, France and Great Britain where the next award ceremony will be held in London on November 22th.
More than 8000 companies from Denmark, Germany, France, Great Britain, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland and Spain were assessed by expert teams in three well defined categories. The competition will come to an end on the weekend of 15th /16th March 2007 on the occasion of the European Business Summit in Brussels. This European summit will bring together leading politicians, members of the European parliament as well as leading business figures.
