The autumn forecast by the EU commission on the economic development in 2006 and the two following years gives rise to optimism. The economic upturn is said to continue even though a little bit less vigorously than so far. The figures in the diagram refer to the Europe of the 25 member states.
For 2006 the economic growth forecast in the EU and the Euro zone are 2.8 and 2.6 percent respectively. In the whole of Europe there will be presumably 7 million new jobs (5 million of which in the Euro zone) being created in the period from 2006 till 2008. Inflation is also predicted to decrease gradually to be at below 2 percent in the Euro zone by 2008. These are the main findings of the autumn forecast by the Commission for the 2006-2008 period.
Economic growth is supported by a solid domestic demand and is said to remain that satisfying. Given that the growth is to a large extent homogeneous in the EU and the Euro zone and due to current structural reforms the current growth is expected to be more sustainable than during previous economic upturns. The complete forecast can be looked up on the Commission´s website.
