By awarding the German Internet Award the Confederation of information management, telecommunications and new media (BITKOM) honours small and medium-sized entities (SMEs) for their innovative use of internet applications. This award campaign is carried out under the auspices of the Federal Ministry of economic affairs and technology (BMWi). One of the sponsors is Oracle Germany.
A top jury made up of representatives from science, IT and telecomunication as well as SMEs evaluates the proposals submitted and chooses the three best contributions. The announcement of the winners and the award ceremony for the prize which is endowed with three times 25.000 Euros will take place in December this year.
The main topic of this year´s German Internet Award campaign is “SMEs online”. The prizes will go to the best contributions from the following categories:
- inter-company e-business by SMEs
- mobile applications in SMEs
- innovative use of wide-band internet applications by SMEs
